A Useful Step-by-Step Guide to Astonishing Health with Castor Oil Packs
Castor Oil
Castor Oil, also known as Ricinus Oil, is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal. This oil is often used in traditional and holistic medicine.
It is important to buy organic and cold-pressed Castor Oil, free from hexane. Hexane is a toxic chemical solvent used to extract Castor Oil from the Castor bean. More people are now aware of this and are using safer cold-pressed extraction methods. Please do not buy Castor Oil in anything other than a glass bottle. Castor Oil will leach chemicals from plastics.
History
Castor Oil has a reputation for curing sickness and healing wounds. Castor oil became known as the "Palm of Christ," probably due to its healing capabilities during the middle ages. Castor Oil is mentioned in the bible as the oil that anoints!
The early Egyptians used Castor Oil for their lamps, before realizing the healing potential of the oil. Castor Oil beans have been found in Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 B.C.
In the past, Castor oil was used for the treatment of dry eyes and also for inducing labor.

Castor Oil Packs
Castor oil packs can be used with or without heat. I prefer to use a PEMF Far Infrared Heating Pad as this helps your body absorb the oil better and directs it deeper into your body. Castor oil increases lymph movement and circulation of the lymphatic system. In addition to moving the lymph, Castor Oil packs can be used to improve liver function by increasing bile flow in your liver, improving digestion, boosting the immune system, reducing inflammation, reducing symptoms of detoxification, relieving pain, moving the body into a relaxed state, and giving you restful sleep at night. Castor oil packs can also be used to relieve constipation and improve cramps during menstruation. You can also use Castor Oil packs for calming inflammation and stimulating blood flow to your thyroid.
Castor oil packs increase glutathione. Glutathione is a powerful detox antioxidant, known to pull toxins from our bodies. I feel like Castor Oil packs are essential in healing.
How to Make a Home Made Castor Oil Pack:
Ingredients:
I recommend using only organic cotton flannel
1-2 TBS of cold-pressed Castor Oil
It is not necessary to add Essential Oils to the Castor Oil, but are very helpful. (I always add a couple of drops of Magi-Complexx as it is organic and has fermented turmeric, Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata), and Myrrh. I always use this oil in my packs.
You can also get Young Living Essential Oils. Young Living does carry Panaway oil and that works very well for pain. I also love using their tangerine, orange, or Melissa oil for a nice scent. There are so many to choose from, and we all have our opinions of what smells good, so you decide.
Some good detox oils are Lavender, Orange, Fennel, Lemon, Ginger, Bergamot, Juva-Cleanse, Juva-Flex, and Oregano.
Some well-known supportive oils are Frankincense, Sacred Frankincense, Rosemary, Ginger, Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Sandalwood, and Myrrh.
Peppermint, ginger, and fennel are great for digestive issues.
How to prepare the Castor Oil Packs:
So now that we have our ingredients, here is what I have done for years.
I get a small dish and add the Castor Oil. I mix in my essential oils next. A drop or 2 of each is sufficient. Then I take my cotton flannel strips and dip them in the oil, making sure they are thoroughly coated.
While the flannel strips sit in the dish, I go and put 2 big towels down on the bed. Castor Oil can be pretty messy, and it is important to make sure you don’t stain your bedding. The first towel is to lay down on the bed. The 2nd towel is for wrapping yourself in. I put a few smaller towels on my nightstand to deal with any dripping that may occur, and I keep disposable gloves nearby to take the strips out of the oil.
Next, I lie down on the towel and put my gloves on. Then I take the strips out of the oil and put them on my skin. For the most part, I put the strips on my right side over my liver. The liver is where detox happens. If I feel any pain or uncomfortableness anywhere else, I put it in that spot. I have even used these for arm pain when I had rotator cuff surgery. Sure helped the pain, is all I have to say about that!! I know people who have put this over breast lumps too.
Once the strips are in place I semi-tightly wrap a towel around my waist (or wherever I am using the strips).
I then put my heating pad on top of the towel, and let the magic happen! (Keep strips on for at least an hour). I almost always fall asleep, as castor oil packs are very relaxing. If your heating pad doesn’t automatically shut off, you may want to set a timer.
Now that I have told you how I make my Castor Oil packs, I can tell you that I still love them, but if you want an easier way to do it you can go here to get an easier 2 step solution. I find them cleaner and faster to set up also. I still use their method with my Far-Infrared Heating Pad.
There are many different ways to set up and use your Castor Oil packs. I do both my old way and the easier already set up for me method that I linked to above.
